It’s gonna be a whole new level of weird.

Netflix’s adaptation of the comic book series by Gerard Way proved to be a massive success. According to the streaming giant, The Umbrella Academy Season 1 was viewed by 45 million households in its first four weeks. It tells the story of a family of weird and misfit superheroes, who must work together despite their differences to save the world from an impending apocalypse.

Season 2

Netflix has finally dropped the highly anticipated trailer for the sophomore season of The Umbrella Academy, and we’re seeing another family reunion for another planet-saving adventure.

The first season ended with the Hargreeves siblings escaping the apocalypse using Five’s ability to time travel. In the next season, things look much more complicated, as their time-traveling escape from 2019’s moon apocalypse scattered them around Texas across different timelines. This means some of them got stuck in the past, convinced that the others did not survive, and moved on with their lives.

The challenge falls on Five, who is the one to land last and witnesses another doomsday in the present time. Now, he must find his siblings to prevent the doomsday from happening. And oh, as the Hargreeves family attempts to save mankind again, there will also be a trio of deadly assassins hunting them.

Returning to the sequel is the original cast: Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Emmy Raver-Lampman, and Justin H. Min. It’s executive produced by Steve Blackman who is also the showrunner, Jeff F. King, Keith Goldberg, Mike Richardson, and co-produced by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá.

The 10-episode sequel of The Umbrella Academy lands on Netflix on July 31, 2020. Watch the weird and wonderful season 2 trailer here!
