International pop star Taylor Swift joined Filipinos in a call to junk the Anti-Terror Bill.
On Tuesday, June 3, Taylor Swift posted an Instagram story showing ways in which people can help with different issues the world is facing today.
The IG story contains links leading to information and donation drives for the causes. This includes information about the on-going protests over the murder of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer.
The post also contains the Anti-Terrorism Bill, which is feared by lawyers and human rights activities to be prone to state abuse and could be used to silence critics. Recently certified urgent by President Duterte, the proposed new law has now passed its third and final house reading– meaning, it only needs the president’s signature.
“When you’re done: Educate yourself. This doesn’t go away once the topic isn’t trending,” Taylor’s IG story reads.
Prior to this, Taylor is also among the celebrities who have spoken out against injustices. On May 29, the pop icon took to Twitter to call out US President Donald Trump for his response to the ongoing demonstrations in Minneapolis.
