Anita Linda, once considered as the oldest active actress in the Philippines, passed away early Wednesday, June 10.

The death of the cinema icon was confirmed by her daughter, Francesca Legaspi. Adolf Alix Jr., the filmmaker who directed the movie legend in Adela and Circa, also broke the sad news on Instagram.

“This is a very sad day for me. I am trembling as I am gathering my thoughts. She is like my Lola and part of my family,” posted Adolf, along with a photo of him with the veteran actress.

“The great Anita Linda has passed away this morning at 6:15 am at 95. Prayers for her soul. My condolences to her family and her children, Francesca Legaspi, and Fred Osburn,” he added.

Born in 1994, Anila Linda was considered the oldest living actress in the country. She was discovered by a renowned director while watching a stage show at the Avenue Theather. Since then, Linda has starred in more than 300 movies, dedicating seven decades of her life to the Philippine Cinema. And even at 90, she was still actively pursuing her craft, hence her being popular even among the younger generation.
