Game of Thrones is a show well-loved for its big character reunions. Two years after it ended, two actors from the hit HBO fantasy series are set to join forces once again, this time for another gargantuan project led by the premium network.

Pedro Pascal, who portrayed Prince Oberyn Martell, has been cast to play Joel in the TV adaptation of Naughty Dog’s classic video game franchise ‘The Last of Us.’ Meanwhile, chosen to portray Ellie is GOT’s breakout star Bella Ramsey, best known for her role as the young, savage queen Lyanna Mormont.

‘The Last of Us’ is a wildly popular action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2013. Set 20 years after a virus ravaged the planet, the game plot centers on the father and daughter-like bond between Joel and Ellie as the former fulfills his duty to escort the young girl across the post-apocalyptic United States. Naturally, their journey involves brutal encounters with zombies and bad people. And yep, there’s also a lot of drama.

Hailed by many as one of the greatest video games of all time, ‘The Last of Us’ has won numerous accolades, including 10 nominations and 5 awards at the 1oth British Academy Video Game Awards, among many other ‘game of the year’ awards.

Although Pascal and Ramsey never appeared in the same scene during Game of Throne’s 8-season run, fans are celebrating over the idea that these actors– who both killed it in the show despite playing minor roles– have been cast again for another high-profile HBO project.

And aside from the explosive casting, you’d also be stoked to hear that the creative team behind this project consists of heavy talents. Neil Drunkmann, the original game’s creative director, has been tapped to co-write and executive produce the series, alongside Craig Mazin who’s the creator of HBO’s critically-acclaimed ‘Chernobyl’ series. Russian filmmaker Kantemir Balagov will be directing the pilot.

Pedro Pascal currently plays the titular role of Disney+’s ‘The Mandalorian.’ Bella Ramsey, however, rose to fame in ‘Game of Thrones’ and is set to have her biggest break yet in The Last of Us.
