The new Netflix film follows the newlywed young woman as she arrives at Manderley, her husband, Maxim’s imposing family estate on a windswept English coast. Naive and inexperienced, she begins to settle into the trappings of her new life, but finds herself battling the shadow of Maxim’s first wife, the elegant and urbane Rebecca, whose haunting legacy is kept alive by Manderley’s sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas).

‘Rebecca’ is directed by Ben Wheatly, who is hailed as one of the most dynamic filmmakers today thanks to his impressive background that includes renowned titles like “Sightseers,” “Kill List,” and “Free Fire.” It’s produced by Eric Fellner & Tim Bevan of Working Title and Nira Park and based on a screenplay by Jane Goldman and Joe Shrapnel & Anna Waterhouse.

Expectations are high for this modern take of Maurier’s novel as this serves as the first major film adaptation since 1940’s Oscar-winning adaptation by Alfred Hitchcock. Netflix’s ‘Rebecca’ is slated to release on October 21. Watch the trailer below!
