Disney has found their Ariel for The Little Mermaid live-action and she’s ready to swim up and become part of our world!

After the consecutive success of Disney live-action remakes, our favorite mermaid gets her own too. Since the rampant production of Disney live-action remakes, the casting of each has been tedious. And ‘The Little Mermaid’ live-action remake ain’t no exception to that.

But after a long time of deliberation, Disney has decided who to cast for Ariel of the iconic 1989 film, ‘The Little Mermaid’. Cue in actress and R&B singer, Halle Bailey. Known for her role in the sitcom Grown-ish, she has the right acting experience in portraying the iconic little mermaid.

According to reports, unlike the live-action remake of ‘Mulan’, ‘The Little Mermaid’ will still have the iconic songs. The remake will include the beloved classic songs and additional new songs from Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. And Halle Bailey fits the bill perfectly for her wonderful vocals. Aside from being part of the R&B duo, Chloe x Halle, she performed a song for the fantasy movie, ‘A Wrinkle In Time’.

Halle possesses the youth, spirit, and innocence that Ariel has. Even the director Rob Marshall stated that Halle got all the necessary qualities to play the vital role of Ariel. Her youth, spirit, heart, innocence, and substance. And even in amidst of the controversy of having a woman of color portray Ariel, Disney seems to standby their decision.

So far, production and filming of The Little Mermaid live-action will start early 2020. On the other hand, the announcement of other casts will be expected in the next coming weeks.
