Top Cover Songs From OPM Artists

While it’s easy to love songs from our favorite OPM artists, hearing another artist cover their hits makes them extra special. Most of the time, the two versions are not comparable because they have different style and sound, as if they were two different songs in general—that’s the beauty of cover songs.

And although there are tons out there—including those that are not recorded as they were played in gigs—these our are top cover songs for now:

Your Universe – Clara Benin / Dane Hipolito

Clara Benin and Dane Hipolito’s version of Rico Blanco’s Your Universe sounds so serene, giving this sweet song extra “feels” than it already is. Their amazing voice have perfect chemistry—seriously, though, they should do more collabs.

Mundo – Agsunta

By popular request, Agsunta’s Jam Sessions featured IV Of Spades’ Mundo with The Voice Philippines’ Daniel Ombao. They also inserted a rap in the middle of the song, so you have to check it out!

Kathang isip – Reese Lansangan

We know Reese Lansangan and her covers, making every song lovelier and more feminine. Her version of Ben&Ben’s Kathang Isip is one of those songs you’d want to listen on a rainy night, using it as a lullaby until you fall asleep.

Tulog na – Ben&Ben

Ben&Ben usually covers Sugarfree’s songs on their shows—with Tulog Na and Burnout in the top list. True enough, their version of these amazing songs sounds just like Sugarfree’s, and they give it a different sound—the Ben&Ben way.

Ang Huling El Bimbo – The Ransom Collective

The Ransom Collective gives Eraserheads’ Ang Huling El Bimbo a twist—surprisingly offering new color to this classic song. The violin also sounded amazing, and it’s not everyday that we hear a female sing it.

It always feels nice to hear our OPM artists do top cover songs from fellow local musicians—it just means we have a relatively close and supportive scene! What’s your favorite cover? Share in the comments!
