Entertaining has become one of the most exciting professions in the world today. Media and entertainment companies are always on the look out for the next big thing. They look  for ways to captivate their audiences. So,  newer entertainment models are coming up – like reality television. However, one cannot ignore the core entertainment aspects, music and entertainment. There are two aspects that play an important role when it comes to entertaining. Over the decades, we have had several dancers from all over the world who have captured our imagination.  These dancers have had minimal to maximum fame, but they have always been a part of pop culture. Some of the best contemporary dance choreographers have also had t controversies. They have fought it all and come out trumps.

  • Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson is of the Jackson Five, and one of Micheal Jackson’s sister. Jackson has wowed us with a stunning career as a singer and dancer. She has also gained popularity as one of the best stage performers. This requires her to be an incredible dancer. A Janet Jackson tour is to die for. She has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, making her one of the most selling artistes of all time.

  • Channing Tatum

It helps that Tatum has the looks that can stop hell freezing over, if only for a second or so. But Tatum is an accomplished dancer and we need to see more of his dance steps. Tatum had some fantastic dance sequences in the movie Magic Mike XXL, Step Up and so many other movies. He has since then turned to action comedies, but Tatum can still bust a move.

  • Britney Spears

And then we have Britney Spears, one of the best contemporary dance choreographers, and a celebrity that we have seen change from being a teenager celeb to a woman who’s on the brink of taking her life back. Spears is popular for her angsty, aggressive dance moves that tell a whole different story to the audience that’s a fan of song, music and dance. Spears is one of the few celebrities who have successfully have had an image makeover, after remaining in the public spotlight for more than three decades.

  • Shakira

Shakira is one of the most popular singers/ best contemporary dance choreographers  who have had a glorious career. She’s so famous today that other sons have her as a pop reference – that should shut down those critics. Shakira has had several chartbusting songs and her dance performances are the stuff of legend. She’s referred to as the Queen of Latin Music and started her career at the age of 13. Her most famous songs are Whenever, Wherever, followed by Underneath Your Clothes and of course, the eponymous Waka Waka, Hips Don’t Lie, Loca and so many more. A thing to note, each of these songs have an energetic dance sequence, which Shakira has performed in the best manner possible.  She has won three Grammy Awards, 12 Latin Grammy Awards, and has six Guiness Book World Records.

  • Beyonce

Beyonce Knowles rose to fame in the naugthy nineties, and is today one of the most popular celebrities in the world. She is famous for her energetic, sensual dance sequences and songs that speak about various subjects, including female equality. Knowles started her career early as well, as a part of the very successful Destiny’s Child band, which broke up later.  Her most popular songs are Crazy in Love and Baby Boy.  Beyonce has won at least two dozen Grammy Awards and has other accolades from the RIAA and Billboard.

  • Madonna

The siren of shock that is still relevant because of her songs and for unleashing a kind of sensuality in the dance steps that the audience had never seen before. Madonna became all that in the nineties with her sultry music albums, and that supremely controversial book, SEX. Since then, though Madonna has toned down her message, but her dance sequences in her videos are as fatigue-inducing and energetic as they ever were.

  • Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan is an Indian actor, and critics credit him of bringing the world of dance along with him to the movies. While India has accomplished dancers like Tiger Shroff today, it’s Hrithik Roshan who rode the wave of the dancing actor in the early 2000s, after Govinda decided to take a step back in his career. Hrithik Roshan is oe of the few actors who took a professional course in dancing before he made his debut back in 2000s, with the movie Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai.

  • Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is said to be the connecting generation between the likes of Vyajantimala and Raveena Tandon. India’s first muse, Madhuri Dixit has several incredible dance songs to her credit and critics and fans regard as her the best post modern dancer in India. She is still very much active, doing movies when she feels like it, and becoming a judge on dance shows, mentoring the new dance contestants.

These are the most famous dancers in the world currently. Of course, we have had several others down the ages who have had won worldwide adulation and success.
