The nominations for the Oscars – one of the most esteemed award-giving bodies in the film industry – was held yesterday.

Overall though, people are not pleased with the final list of nominees presented.

Yesterday, nominations for one of the most-awaited award-giving bodies in the film industry was held. The 92nd Academy Awards, more commonly known as the Oscars, is back once again to give recognition to some of the best films in 2019. Of course as entertainment geeks, this is one of the events which we were really looking forward to.

However as with every year, nominations from the roster of movies released last year surely brought a lot of disappointment. A lot of films, directors and actors got snubbed of the recognition that they rightfully deserve but hey, who are we to say so?

Some of the notable films which received spots in numerous categories were Todd Phillip’s “Joker” with 11 nominations, while “The Irishman”, “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” and “1917” has 10 nominations each. If you want to see the full list of nominees for every category, you can check it out on their official website by simply clicking here.

If there is a nominee for Best Picture that we’re absolutely rooting for though, it would definitely be Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite”. After all, that film taught us a lesson which really made an impact on our perspectives

The ones who also deserved a chance to win an Oscar

Of course, people from all the world took to social media to share their disappointments with the film choices. Because obviously there is a lack of diversity in the nominees, with whites and males dominating the lists. Audiences pointed out too that there are a lot of artists who deserved a spot better than the other.

Check out some tweets below.

A lot of people were rooting for Greta Gerwig too, especially because of her commendable direction in “Little Women”. And while we’re speaking of women, there is also a lot of people who believe that Lupita Nyong’o deserved a spot in the Best Actress category, obviously because of her incredible performance in “Us”.

Of course, that is not all. In a lot of different categories, great films were also overlooked–there could be better choices for the best Costume Design, Film Editing, Production Design, etc. For reference, you could try watching films from the list below. They might not win an Oscar, but they’re still quality films after all.
