I’m sure that Richard Gomez’s controversial painting is still fresh in your minds. And now another celebrity is making waves on social media because of a painting. But some people are saying that she actually copied it off someone else. And that’s why today, we’ll be clearing it all up. So chill out a little, guys! Angel Locsin didn’t plagiarize that painting!

Let’s start with the facts. So this is the plagiarized painting in question:

So did she really commit plagiarism?

Short answer, NO! Of course, she didn’t! Have you all never heard of a paint-by-numbers kit? It’s actually a really good way to help keep your creativity alive. You can read all about it right here.

Anyways, Angel Locsin did not plagiarize that painting! And nowhere in her post did she ever say it was an original. So the truth is, it was actually a paint-by-numbers kit. Which she admitted when Chito Miranda asked her if she really painted the piece. To which she replied yes, but that it was only a paint-by-numbers kit.


We couldn’t find out where she bought the paint-by-numbers kit exactly. But we did find a website that sells a paint-by-number kit of that exact painting. It’s being sold for 764.99 PHP. You can find it right here.

The original painting is called ‘Passion’ and was created by Leonid Afremov. We actually found the original painting and the smallest piece is being sold for $149 or about 7,600 PHP. And it goes for as high as $199 or about 10,100 PHP. You can check out his other artworks for sale, right here.

Leonid Afremov is a Jewish artist born in Belarus, a small European country that borders Russia. And he is now currently retired and living in Cancun, Mexico.

So that’s the tea! Angel Locsin did not plagiarize that painting! In fact, paint-by-numbers kits are extremely common these days. You can even buy them from Shopee and Lazada. This should serve as a reminder for us to not be too hasty with judging people. And even though it’s a paint-by-numbers kit, it still takes up a certain level of skill and patience to complete. So good job Angel Locsin! Maybe this could be the start of a new hobby for you!
