In case you missed it, BTS has just broken another record which was previously held by ‘Yummy’ singer, Justin Bieber.
It seems like Justin Bieber‘s reign is finally over. Claiming the title he used to enjoy, the K-pop boy group BTS now sits comfortably and rightfully at the top as the artist with the most weeks as No. 1 on the Billboard Social 50. Beating the record after making a tie of 163 weeks with Justin Bieber, they finally overtook the “Yummy” singer by adding another week to their reign.
So currently, this makes BTS‘s record a whopping 164 weeks on the chart. In total, they have spent 3 years and 5 months on the chart as the No. 1 artist, wow! Check out the announcement from Billboard themselves through an Instagram post that you can see below.
The Billboard Social 50 Chart
The Billboard Social 50 is a popularity chart that ranks the most active musical artists on the world’s leading social networking services such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Wikipedia. Published by Billboard magazine, the chart is powered by data tracked by the music analytics company, Next Big Sound. The artist’s weekly additions of friends, fans and followers, along with artist website views and streaming media are also considered.
First landing on the chart in October 2016, BTS has since stayed on the listing. And starting July 2017, they have been on the top since then, making yet another record as the artist with the most consecutive weeks on the chart’s No. 1 spot.
With the power that they have, especially with the help of the ARMY, it seems like there will be no other competition for BTS just yet. After all, the K-pop kings have been really making a buzz lately on social media too. With the upcoming release of their “Map of the Soul: 7” album and their comeback, the hype surely won’t die down anytime soon.
