Rapper/producer Kanye West is now suing insurance company Lloyd’s of London for $10 million. He alleges that the company has been withholding insurance payouts for the 21 cancelled dates from last year’s “Saint Pablo Tour”.
The suit filed by Very Good Touring Inc., West’s touring company, stated that Lloyd’s leaked the results about his medical condition to the press. Moreover, documents implied West’s use of marijuana may provide Lloyd’s with a basis to deny the claim.
The Paris Robbery
2016’s closing months proved to be one hell of a period for West.
It started with the infamous multi-million dollar jewellery heist involving his wife Kim Kardashian West. While attending Paris Fashion Week in October, the reality star/businesswoman was bound, gagged, and held at gunpoint inside her own hotel room. She begged the robbers to take everything in the room in exchange for her life. The incident severely traumatized KKW and caused production of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” to halt, along with her disappearance from social media.
Meanwhile, West was in the middle of a show in New York. Upon hearing his wife’s situation, he ran off stage to be at her aid. Although majority of the fans expressed well wishes to the then-unknown family emergency, others took their time to express their expletive disappointment in the abrupt end of the concert.
(Not) Kanye’s Best
A month later, Kanye himself began making news headlines. During his concert in San Jose, he vocally supported current POTUS Donald Trump and told black people to “stop focusing on racism”. From a typical setlist of 31 songs, he stopped after “Famous” and began a 10-minute rant while performing in Sacramento. West criticized people from different industries: politican Hillary Clinton, pop singer Beyoncé, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg then French exited. As Ye’s erratic behavior became more common, the rest of the “Saint Pablo Tour” was cancelled and the rapper checked himself into a hospital.
Mother-in-law Kris Jenner cited the exhaustion he was experiencing while he went under evaluation at UCLA Medical Center.
“He’s exhausted, he’s just really tired. He’s had a gruelling tour and it’s been a grind so he just needs some rest.”
Representatives from both parties refuse to comment on the matter. Guess we’ll just have to wait for the turnout.
