It’s finally confirmed! HBO already gave the GO signal to the Game of Thrones proposed prequel on the Targaryen House.

When the HBO show ended a few months ago, tons of Game of Thrones fans have expressed their disappointment. In fact, over a million people demanded for a remake of the last season through a petition.

But attention everyone! We may never get the ending that we want anymore but at least, a sequel is confirmed to show the ancient history of the house of one of our favorite GoT characters: Daenerys Targaryen!

Last Tuesday, October 29, HBO announced that they have ordered a Game of Thrones prequel from George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal based on the former’s ‘Fire & Blood’ book series. The show will be called ‘House of the Dragon’ and is set 300 years before the events in GoT.

Moreover, we will see more of the history of House Targaryen as well as some crucial events that will lead up to the massive civil war between the two rival branches of the house.

Along with George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal (showrunner and co-creator of USA Network’s ‘Colony’), Miguel Sapochnik will also share showrunner duties on the new series.

You may remember his name being shown on numerous GoT episodes as the director, including the Emmy awardee and fan-fave ‘Battle of the Bastards’. So accordingly, he will also direct the pilot of this upcoming show. Exciting!

GoT fans, House of the Dragon will be the first official show that will serve as a follow-up to the series that we have all learned to love! Of course, with this upcoming prequel we will discover more about the ‘Game of Thrones Universe’ and why certain things from the original series came to be the way they were.

Other than that, we may even learn more about the life of the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys. Because let’s be honest, an ode to one of our favorite characters would be super cool right?

With all this, we are left wondering: how many times would ‘Dracarys’ be uttered in the prequel?

What about the other prequel?

With regards to the other prequel that some fans were looking forward to, reports say that HBO has scrapped it. With Jane Goldman as the showrunner and Naomi Watts as lead, this prequel is announced dead because of certain issues including post-production.

This news is a big bummer, but there is still a lot of other things that we can look forward to in the GoT universe. One of them is of course, the House of the Dragon.
