What’s more enchanting about this news is that Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey will be back!
Ever since it premiered 14 years ago, there’s been a clamor for an ‘Enchanted’ sequel. And in recent years, the uproar has been louder than ever, especially since rumors have come out here and there. In fact, in 2019, Skyler Shuler, the editor of DisInsider, took to Twitter and teased fans with what appears to be a logo for the follow-up film, which read ‘Disenchanted’.
Well, now it’s official! The popular fairy tale that combines animation and live-action is set to get its continuation. While a proper release date is still unknown, it’s already revealed that the original lead actors, Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel, and James Marsden are bound to return!
‘Enchanted’ hit theaters in 2007 and follows Giselle (Adams) as she was thrown out of the fairy-tale land of Andalasia and into New York City, where she meets divorce lawyer Robert (Dempsey). A musical rom-com, the film pays homage to different Disney features such as the archetypal princess, her quest for a happily ever after, animal friends, and more.
Along with the aforementioned cast members, Jayma Mays (Glee), Yvette Nicole Brown (NBC’s Community), and SNL alum Maya Rudolph will be appearing in the sequel.
‘Disenchanted’ was first officially announced in December 2020 and will premiere on Disney+.
