From Westeros to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Game of Thrones’ breakout star Emilia Clarke was confirmed to have made the big leap to the MCU. She’s joining the cast of Secret Invasion, Marvel’s new series slated to premiere on Disney+.

Clarke is not the first Game of Thrones actor to set foot on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Peter Dinklage appeared in Infinity War as Eitri, while Kit Harington is set to make his MCU debut as Black Knight in Eternals.

While we have yet to know what exactly her role will be, Variety reports that Clark is now in final negotiations with Marvel for a mysterious but crucial character in Secret Invasion. She’ll be a new addition to the previously announced cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson, who will reprise his role as Nick Fury, and Ben Mendelsohn who will also be back as Talos.

Published in June 2008, Marvel’s Secret Invasion is a comic series that follows a group of alien shapeshifters known as the Skrulls in their long-term invasion of Earth. It was announced in December 2020 that it’s being adapted into a Disney+ television show. It will be the latest addition in the library of Marvel titles on Disney’s streaming platform, following the commercially successful ‘WandaVision’ and ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’. No proper release date has been announced, yet.
