The word is out that Demon Slayer, arguably the most successful anime in recent memory, has been renewed for a second season.
Successful doesn’t entirely encapsulate everything that the 2019 mega-hit anime series ‘Demon Slayer’ has accomplished. A 26-episode anime TV show adapted from a manga series by Koyoharu Gotouge, it immediately joined the ranks of Dragonball and One Piece as one of the all-time elites, commercially and critically speaking. For one, due to the overwhelming reception that the world has shown both to the original series and its follow-up film, the source manga has had over 150 million copies sold as of February 2021, earning a spot in the all-time bestsellers worldwide and even dethroning the buzzed-about ‘Attack on Titan.’ The first season also became available on Netflix in January 2021, allowing more audiences to experience this modern masterpiece.
Additionally, its feature-length sequel titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba just ousted Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away and James Cameron’s Titanic as the highest-grossing film in Japan. While this is in and of itself a massive feat, it should be noted that the said anime movie was able to achieve this in just six weeks, in midst of a raging global pandemic!
All these incredible exploits gave fans from all over the world the idea that maybe, just maybe, we need more Demon Slayer content. Fortunately, our cries didn’t go unheard.
Season 2 confirmed!
Demon Slayer season 2 is officially announced. The big news was shared by Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’s official Twitter handle on Valentine’s Day, and needless to say, fans went bonkers.

Part of the announcement is the 2021 release date, and how season 2 will cover the storyline known as the ‘Entertainment District Arc.’
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba follows the adventures of Tajiro Kamado, a boy who seeks to become a demon slayer after his family was attacked and killed by a demon. The anime series became a worldwide hit with its engrossing narrative, character design, and beautiful animation that translates into excellent fight scenes. Now that the whole world is all eyes on its upcoming second season, it’s thrilling to see how the creators behind the new anime behemoth will handle the pressure.
