Taylor Swift drops not just one, but two surprise albums
As if one full-length album is not enough, pop star Taylor Swift dropped TWO surprise albums while on lockdown! Her 8th studio album ‘folklore’ was released last July, while her 9th album ‘evermore’, dropped this December, just in time for her 31st birthday.
BLACKPINK drops first full album
Speaking of albums, K-Pop girl group BLACKPINK also came out with their first ever full album ‘The Album’ last October.
New Korean dramas took over our lives
We won’t deny the fact that we found ourselves binge-watching brand new Korean dramas this 2020. With the release of ‘Itaewon Class’, ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’, ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’, ‘Start-Up’, and more, we spent countless hours shedding tears and falling in love with these series’ characters.
The surge of livestreamers
This year, we saw an incredible spike when it comes to streamers playing their favorite games. Even celebrities like Eric ‘Eruption’ Tai, Nash Aguas, Sharlene San Pedro, Yeng Constantino, Joross Gamboa, Rayver Cruz, Alden Richards, among others, have ventured into livestreaming during the pandemic.
The Philippine cinema is starting to gain its momentum back
Despite being greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine film industry is slowly regaining its momentum with multiple films making its premiere this 2020, especially during the Metro Manila Film Festival.
Musicians venture into small businesses
As their way of coping with the crisis brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, several musicians like Parokya Ni Edgar’s Dindin Moreno, Kamikazee’s Jomal Linao, Soapdish’s Jeff Bolivar, Gloc-9, Angeline Quinto, and many others, have ventured into small businesses!
SB19 releases debut album ‘Get In The Zone’
2020 was an impressive year for SB19 with the release of their debut album ‘Get In The Zone’, their Billboard Social 50 milestone, first-ever live virtual concert, among many other accomplishments.
Virtual gigs, concerts
Music fans definitely missed going to live gigs and concerts. Our favorite artists for sure did miss performing in front of an audience, too, and the pandemic won’t stop them from reaching out to their fans in this so-called new normal. Artists such as Darren Espanto, Sponge Cola, SB19, Ben&Ben, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and many more staged virtual gigs and concerts in the midst of this pandemic as a treat to their fans.
BTS’ world domination reaches new heights
It was indeed a big year for K-pop group BTS! This 2020, the septet achieved multiple milestones, including several Billboard Hot 100 #1 hits, their first ever GRAMMY nomination, being named TIME’s Entertainer of the Year, just to name a few!
