2020 may be a fantastically bad year but fans of the Avatar franchise are really having it pretty good.

Following Avatar: The Legend of Aang’s well-received debut on Netflix in May, the streaming giant announced on Tuesday that Korra will also be joining her predecessor on the streaming service this August.

The Legend of Korra originally premiered on Nickelodeon in 2012 and ended its 4-season course in 2014. Set in a world 70 years after the events of the original series which concluded with Aang defeating the Fire Lord and his imperialist fire nation, the sequel’s story follows Korra, Avatar Aang’s successor, as she sets out on an adventure with her gang to master the four elements: Water, Earth, Air, and Fire. Same with Aang, Korra is tasked to maintain the balance of the world against various villains who seek to ruin it.

Korra on Netflix is just one of the big treats Avatar fans are enjoying now.

A live-action adaptation of the original Avatar series is under development, and Netflix is working with the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, to make sure they redeem the title from the shame brought by M. Night Shyamalan’s 2010 film. Netflix’s live-action reboot was announced in 2018, and we’re waiting for further details about it.
