Live your life now in the style of Phoebe Buffay!
I mean, who doesn’t love Phoebe Buffay? Am I right? In the realm of sitcoms, Friends is easily one of the G.O.A.Ts when it comes to this genre. People of different generations have fallen in love with the Central Perk gang simply because of the perfect balance between humor and life lessons from each character of the show. But out of the 6, one easily stands out among them, and that is the one and only Phoebe Buffay. She is one of the easily lovable characters out of the six with her free-spirited, care-free life! Personally, she is my favorite character in the show and sometimes I wish I have a friend who is like her. I mean who wouldn’t, right?
In the 10 year run of the show, there are tons of lessons that we have learned from them, such as taking risks can bring you happiness, clarifying a break up to someone is a must, or even never taking another man’s food. Today, we’ll be taking a look at some of the life lessons that we have learned from the eccentric queen herself, Phoebe Buffay a.k.a. Regina Phalange.
Loyalty is a must
Friends are for life, this is what we learn from Phoebe when Joey stood up their dinner. And this is important today considering the fact that with life revolving around social media, we meet new people and we easily get distracted swayed from those who are real to you because of the excitement of a new company. Staying loyal to those people who were with you in your ups and downs is a person you must certainly keep. So remember who is there for you in your worst moments, and stay with them. Be like Phoebe Buffay, a loyal friend. Because nowadays, we all need those people who are there for us no matter what.
Honesty is the Key!
This is one of the most easily seen traits of Phoebe Buffay, she is true and honest. Whenever she is faced with decisions that need the truth, she chooses to stay honest and tell them the truth. May it be telling Chandler what she really thinks of him, or by telling Ross what he needs to hear when he is experiencing dating problems. In this day and age, we need a little honesty in our life every once in a while. It helps our life become easier by removing baggage that may cost us a positive life. So from now, be honest! It makes life less complicated.
Don’t listen to others
Phoebe was questioned numerous times about her singing capabilities, but she never flinched and just continued doing what she loves. With all the noise around us, we should learn to tune out those voices who tell us we can’t do certain things. Just do what you love and be good at it. No matter what other people say, just do it. Because at the end of the day, people will always say something about you so just focus on yourself and be great at what you are doing. Tune out those negative voices and stay positive. As what our brand believes in, you do you!
Learn to say no
Don’t do things that you are not happy or fond of. One of the things that I learned from Phoebe during the first episode of season one is learn to say no to things that you are not happy doing. When a friend asks you to go out and party with them but you’re not in the mood? Tell them no. A relative asking you to do a tarpaulin for free but you strongly believe that they need to compensate for your work, tell them no. Learning to say no does not mean you are a selfish person, it simply means you know your worth and value. So whenever someone asks you to do something you are fond of, tell them no.
Live with confidence
Believe in yourself! Phoebe is a walking bag of confidence. Whenever she is complimented, she always responds with the words “I know”. Believing yourself is an attitude that we must have. Especially today where everyone seems to be waiting for someone to fail. Believing in yourself is something you need. No one will cheer you harder than yourself. So the next time you are doubting yourself, just remember Phoebe Buffay and empower yourself with confidence!
