Another Wednesday, another list. We’re bringing your favorite live sets to help you get through the day for this week’s edition of Hump Day Treat!
Foster the People, Lollapalooza 2017
Life for Foster the People turned into an absolute whirlwind after the release of their debut album “Torches” in 2011. They released two follow up albums, “Supermodel” in 2014 and “Sacred Hearts Club” in 2017. The band is still currently on tour and are set to perform in Manila on January 26, so grab your tickets while you can!
Tame Impala, Lowlands 2015
One of the (if not, the) best psychedelic rock bands of the modern age, Tame Impala journeyed from the land down under straight to the top of the charts. Their latest album “Currents” won Best Rock Album and Album of the Year at the 2015 ARIA Music Awards, and bagged a Grammy Award nomination for Best Alternative Music Album.
Vampire Weekend, Austin City Limits Festival 2013
Throwing it back a bit to the release of Vampire Weekend’s third album, 2013 was a phenomenal year for the four-piece. They played Glastonbury, Rock Werchter, Lollapalooza, Fuji Rock, iTunes Festival, Boston Calling, and of course Coachella. Their album “Modern Vampires of the City” even won Best Alternative Music Album at the Grammy Awards! Their forthcoming album “Mitsubishi Macchiato” made it on our list of 2018 albums to watch out for.
The Strokes, Governors Ball Music Festival 2016
2016 saw the semi-return of The Strokes with their EP “Future Present Past” and couple tour dates. Reports of a new album emerged along with their comeback, but those rumors proved to be false. Their set at the 2016 Governors Ball marked their first tour date of the year and they even played Red Light, the first time since 2010, and a cover of Clampdown by The Clash, the first time since 2004.
Arctic Monkeys, Glastonbury Festival 2013
Glastonbury 2013’s most anticipated set goes to the Arctic Monkeys. The hype around their fifth studio album “AM” only continued to build, and they eventually delivered an album that was worthy of the said hype. Their performance at Glastonbury 2013 marks what is by far their best and most well-received performance based on how loud the crowd is singing back to them. Talk about hometown heroes!
Get through your Wednesday with these remarkable live sets! Happy humpday, and hang in there!
