Fathers & Sons
Pitch: “In REMEMBRANCE of two beloved mentors, Tony Mabesa and Menggie Cobarrubias, Dulaang UP presents Nick Joaquin’s Fathers and Sons.
Set in the 70’s, Fathers and Sons (Mga Ama, Mga Anak) is a story of patriarchy. The central figure is Zacarias Monzon, a man of many wives and concubines, and a tango dancer, embezzled with a latigo that furthered his power in a meek household.
May this work confront us with the dangers of power and the plight of the oppressed. We stand by our commitment to continually offer Theater that is resonant and relevant. Let us remember together, and together be strong.”
