Gail Belmonte’s ‘Tonight’ will make you miss your non-existent lover!
A mellow and chill track with that feel-good vibe, ‘Tonight’ is about enjoying the night, slowing down and taking in its often underappreciated mystical beauty.
When asked about the details of her new song, Gail has this to say,
I’m quite the night owl and work best during the nighttime, so I decided to write a whole song about how much I love the night. In writing ‘Tonight’, I felt a sense of safety in the night, and I wanted to portray that in the most comfortable and magical way possible. The most important thing to me is that it’s completely okay to feel vulnerable on your own in the dark of night, and it is okay to slow down every once in a while and let the night time take over.
I’m sure some of you can relate on being a night owl, myself included. There’s just something about the night that makes my brain function, the peace and serenity it brings knowing that most are already asleep. The night gives me a safe space for my thoughts and emotions that wouldn’t normally come out in the blinding lights of the morning.
Moreover, Gail’s voice perfectly complements the song’s charm and melody. Her singing style adds to the sensual appeal of the song and it works pretty well in the context of flowy arrangements and vintage sounds.
