The ’90s is one of the most influential eras there ever was. True enough that it gave us a lot of music trends and diversity. But amongst all that notable artists — Who truly ruled the ’90s?

It is highly debatable, and until now we never really get to pinpoint whose who — but in the spirit of creating a list of the best of the best, we at uDOu tried our best to create a list that showcased the cream of the crop back then!

Alanis Morissette

One of the strong singers of her time. Alanis Morissette is known for her emotive mezzo-soprano voice, she began her career in Canada in the early 1990s and she began to gain international recognition after she released Jagged Little Pill, a more rock-oriented album which sold more than 33 million copies globally.

Mariah Carey

Known as one of the best selling music artists of all time. Mariah is an icon and mostly is recognized for her five-octave vocal range, melismatic singing style, and signature use of the whistle register. She rose to fame in 1990 and has continued to reach worldwide success in the following years.  Billboard named her the country’s most successful artist of the 1990s and has since then been one of the legendary singers from the ’90s era.

2Pac

Better known by his stage name 2Pac, he was an American rapper, songwriter, and actor. He is considered by many to be one of the most influential rappers of all time. Much of his work is recognized for addressing social issues and he is actually considered a symbol of resistance and activism against inequality. Shakur is known to be one of the best-selling music artists of all time having sold over 75 million records worldwide.

Michael Jackson

He is dubbed the “King of Pop”, regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures ever. Michael Jackson is recognized in both his stage and video performances, he is also known to popularize complicated dance techniques such as the moonwalk, to which he gave the name, and the robot. His sound and style have influenced various artists of various genres, and his contributions to music, dance, and fashion, is insurmountable. He is truly a global figure in popular culture with the title: The most awarded artist of all-time.

Madonna

Known as the “Queen Of Pop” – Madonna Louise Ciccone is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She is regarded as one of the most influential figures in pop culture during her time. She is noted for her continual evolution and versatility.  With this, she is recognized for always pushing the boundaries of artistic expression in music.  Madonna has attained many number-one singles throughout her career, including “Like a Virgin”, “La Isla Bonita”, “Like a Prayer”, “Vogue”, “Take a Bow”, “Frozen”, “Music”, “Hung Up”, and “4 Minutes”.
