One can never be too old to create music.

He used to be one of the voices the elderly men in your household would listen to on the radio on a Sunday morning. His hits are your ninongs’ go-to songs when singing on the videoke. As today’s youth, we’d mostly recognize him for his tracks Bed of Roses and It’s My Life. Do these clues ring a bell? Well, the legendary rock icon that your drunk uncle would wreck his throat imitating is still in the game, and he’s actually just released new music.

Jon Bon Jovi has dropped his latest single, “Do What You Can,” ahead of his 2020 album set for an October 2nd release. The track is the singer-songwriter’s take on human resiliency amidst the pandemic, and he reinforces his message with a touching music video. The video, released on August 25, sees the 58-year-old rockstar taking to the streets of New York, masked and bearing witness to how everyone from all walks of life is coping with the COVID-19 crisis.

“Shooting a video on nearly empty streets of Manhattan amid a global crisis really told the story of ‘Do What You Can’ from the place where I lived it.  And I know those empty streets look similar to so many parts of America battling this pandemic,” shares Jon Bon Jovi.

“But the story of everyday heroes showing amazing courage was inspiring to see and the video, much like the song, has a great deal of hope in it too.”

Aside from being the renowned frontman of his band ‘Bon Jovi,’ Jon is also well known for his philanthropic pursuits. One of his ongoing programs is his ‘JBJ Soul Kitchen Community Restaurant‘ in Red Bank, NJ, in which he is also the “hall-of-fame dishwasher.” It’s actually what inspired him to write his new single; his wife took a photo of him and posted it on social media with the caption, “If You Can’t Do What You Do… Do What You Can.” The songwriter in him suddenly had an idea and boom, a song was created the next day.
