We never really know what the musicians we look up to are like in real life. Being in the public eye, there’s a high chance they hide their bad side (unless you’re Liam Gallagher, because that guy literally gives zero f*cks) to avoid bad publicity. They’re seen as metahumans, but what if I told you that half of them might have been replaced by a clone? Or gangsta rap being used a medium to fill up prisons?
Beyoncé Faked Her Pregnancy
Remember her performance during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs)? The one where she unbuttoned her jacket, revealing her baby bump, subsequently sending the world into a meltdown? Queen B’s pregnancy with Blue Ivy gave birth to the faux pregnancy conspiracy theory, but there only seems to be one piece of “evidence” to back this up. During an appearance at Australian talkshow “Sunday Night”, her baby bump looked as if it deflated when she sat down. Rumors spread like wildfire, but Beyoncé shut them down almost immediately and pointed the fold to the fabric.
Avril Lavigne is Dead
The ex-princess of pop punk left everyone confused when she released the kawaii-infused trainwreck track called “Hello Kitty” a few years ago. It would only make sense that her music took a completely different direction because the real Avril Lavigne is dead. The story goes like this: when her album “Let Go” shot her into stardom, she began to hate the fame. She hired a body double named Melissa Vandella and they became friends. Lavigne couldn’t handle the pressure of the follow up record, and her Grandfather’s untimely passing got pushed her into depression. She was apparently found dead in her home not soon after, and her body double continued on with her life.
“Dark Side of the Moon” X “The Wizard of Oz”
One of the older theories, they say that playing the entirety of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” during a certain scene in “The Wizard of Oz” creates a beautiful blend of music and visual art. Charles Savage from the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette called it “astonishing”. Pink Floyd’s sound engineer Alan Parsons, on the other hand, was quite disappointed when he gave it a try himself. “It’s such a non-starter, a complete load of eyewash.”
Gangsta Rap Was Made to Fill Prisons
This theory alleges that major label CEOs and wealthy “decision makers” met somewhere in the outskirts of Los Angeles in 1991 to actively, yet subtly, push gangsta rap to the American public. These executives believed the promotion of selling drugs and street violence through music could fill up privately-owned corporate prisons. Back in 2012, a detailed letter about the theory was anonymously sent to Hip Hop Is Read and it received mix reactions. Some found the letter ridiculous, others didn’t find the plot surprising.
John Lennon’s Real Murderer Was the CIA
Everybody knows the “Paul McCartney is dead” theory so let’s jump ship here. While everyone knew Mark David Chapman as the guy who pulled the trigger on Lennon, there was apparently another major player involved: the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). John Potash, author of the famed book “Drugs as Weapons Against Us: The CIA’s Murderous Targeting of SDS, Panthers, Hendrix, Lennon, Cobain, Tupac, and Other Leftists” (long title), claims that Lennon developed radical leftist politics after his drug use and causing him to create all the anti-war events. Chapman was merely a pawn used to carry out the deed, especially after considering the fact that he could’ve escaped the crime scene but instead chose to sit down and read “The Catcher in the Rye,” his supposed statement.
Ah, isn’t life great? You might laugh at one of these theories now but who knows, it might be proven right in the future. We’ll never really know.
