Should this be a priority?
The news of a bill targeting to rename NAIA or the ‘Ninoy Aquino International Airport’ to ‘Paliparang Pandaigdig ng Pilipinas’ draws flak among netizens all over social media.
The House Bill no. 7031 was proposed on Thursday by presidential son Paolo Duterte together with law makers Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Jay Velasco and ACT-CIS Representative Eric Go Yap. In a joint statement they said; “We need a more representative branding for the international gateway of our country, thus our proposal renaming NAIA to the Paliparang Pandaigdig ng Pilipinas.”
The filing of bill amidst the growing COVID-19 cases in the country did not go unnoticed by the public. With the Philippines reaching 33,069 positives as of writing, netizens voice their concerns on the necessity of the bill in these trying times.
On a lighter note, some Filipinos are known to take a serious situation and turn it into laughs. For instance, netizens are quick to think of an acronym for the lengthy suggested name: ‘PaPaPi’. This trended on Twitter as a result to netizens involving Kapamilya heartthrob Piolo Pascual who is known for his nickname, ‘Papa P’.

Sometimes, airports can be named after individuals. Just like Charles de Gaulle in Paris, France and John F. Kennedy in New York. To rename NAIA Paliparang Pandaigdig ng Pilipinas (PaPaPi) is a form of historical revisionism which blatantly attacks our national identity.

Seriously? Am i living on a different world? Is covid 19 just a concept to them?
I know these things are already plotted on their schedule
I just dont like to hear another “other countries just acted earlier” or “ang titigas ng ulo nyo”
