A tribute to our unsung heroes and frontliners

No fancy concepts. No grand production– just a compilation of various footage depicting scenes of the ‘new normal’ from all over the world, with Rico Blanco performing at the confines of his home– the music video for ‘This Too Shall Pass’ tells the story of how everyone tries to grapple with the global pandemic crisis, and the role of resilience and ‘bayanihan‘ in this collective battle.

The caption includes a personal message from Rico himself, which reads: “My little message of hope. For ALL OF US in these most difficult, uncertain times. Especially dedicated to all our frontliners and essential workers. Thank you. We love you.”

An initiative for COVID-19 response efforts

Besides bringing messages of hope and encouragement, the music video also aims to call for donations for COVID-19 response and relief. Sony Music Philippines will be donating 100% of the net proceeds from the music video for the first six months to www.puhon.ph. Inspired by the Cebuano word ‘puhon’ which means ‘hopefully’, the website aims to “combat COVID-19 in the Philippines by providing a timely and coordinated response to affected communities, and by building a network of courage and inspiration through stories and music.” This digital donation drive is bannered by the tag #MakeHopeViral.

As of this date, the website has raised P4.6M for personal protective equipment (PPEs) & nutrition support for frontline healthcare workers, COVID-19 testing kits, and relief goods for daily wage workers. Other Sony Music Philippines artists showing support on the site are SB19, Zelijah, Dionela, Nathan & Mercury, Alex Bruce, Ace Banzuelo & syd hartha.

The music video for ‘This Too Shall Pass’ was produced by Sindikato Studios. You can watch it on Youtube and other video platforms worldwide.
