Taylor Swift slays it again in her freshly released music video, but not as a queen.

In the video of The Man, the 30-year-old pop star portrays the character of Tyler Swift: a satirical representation of a typically perceived alpha man. He wears a suit all the time, bosses everyone around, sits on public transportation with complete disregard of the people next to him, hangs out with girls who are all supposed to be drooling over him– you know the likes.

“I’m so sick of running
As fast as I can
Wondering if I’d get there quicker
If I was a man”

The 10-time Grammy awardee is the director, writer, producer, and the main protagonist of her (or his) latest music video, which is, as one amused fan puts it: “similar to group projects at school.”

Fans like it, but others? Not so much

The internet has contrasting views on the song. Some of them praise Taylor for attempting to expose sexism in the industry– a problem she as well as other female artists have been forced to deal with in their entertainment career. Some fans think that it’s the songwriter’s take on toxic masculinity and old-fashioned stereotypes of women. Some men also believe that the video itself is sexist, as Taylor’s imitation of The Wolf of Wall Street implies that men generally act that way.

Even so, we are just pumped to see T-Swift persistently impress us with her artistry, versatility, and growth as an artist and as a person. From a country musician that sings about experiencing love at fifteen, she is now a pop feminist icon ready to take on bigger roles, even if it requires transforming into a man.
