Ranking Where To Get The Best Lumpiang Shanghai

January 13, 2020 Franchesca Rivera

Today we’ll be discussing some of the best, and worst places to get the classic Pinoy dish: Lumpiang Shanghai!

After all, being able to eat the best Lumpiang Shanghai shouldn’t be limited to holiday gatherings, right?

Today, we’ll be pondering on one of life’s greatest mysteries: where to get the BEST Lumpiang Shanghai! So when we talk of this classic Filipino dish, it should never be taken lightly. After all, there’s a reason it’s the first dish to disappear during potlucks and celebrations, right? And being able to eat the best Lumpiang Shanghai shouldn’t be only during holidays. Because if you ask us, it’s an all-year kind of dish!

So let’s get to it, here are some of the best, and worst places to get Lumpiang Shanghai all year round!

Chowking and Jollibee

So I guess we’ll start off with the two most common and easiest places to get Lumpiang Shanghai, Chowking and Jollibee! After all, nothing says easy and accesible quite like fast-food chains! But it’s definitely not the best measure of quality food. And that’s why if we’re talking about Lumpiang Shanghai quality alone, these two are at the bottom of the barrel! So not only is their Lumpiang Shanghai overly wrapped, there is very little filling inside. But I guess, if you’re just looking for a quick fix, either of these will have to do.

Goldilocks

But who actually has the time to eat at a restaurant these days? Especially if you’re a working person and only have one-hour breaks. And maybe this is why fast-food is so popular, but if there’s a place that’s home-style cooking that’s sort of fast-food, it’s Goldilocks! So if you’re in a hurry, but you’re still craving for some quality Lumpiang Shanghai, head on over to Goldilocks! We wouldn’t say that Goldilock’s Lumpiang Shanghai is top-tier, but it’s definitely a bit better than Chowking and Jollibee!

Classic Savory

Now, we’re definitely getting somewhere good! Lumpiang Shanghai from Classic Savory is definitely a must-try for lovers of this crunchy dish! So we don’t know if you’ve tried their Kikiam, but it’s to die for! And we have a feeling that their pork mix for it may be a similar recipe. Because the meat does have a bit of springy-ness to it, much like their Kikiam! But don’t be concerned, Classic Savory’s Kikiam is completely homemade. And in no way the starchy street food we all know.

Aristocrat

And finally, we’re looking at one of the oldest Filipino restaurants around, Aristocrat! So maybe it has something to do with the fact that they’ve been making Lumpiang Shanghai for a while. But Aristocrat comes close to the perfect Lumpiang Shanghai, there is a hefty combination of minced meat and the subtle crunch of vegetables. But what’s most important is that the meat inside remains juicy, despite having a gloriously crunchy exterior. And for 271 PHP per order, it’s definitely worth the price! But what’s more, is that it even comes with a side of their homemade atchara.

So we don’t know about you, but after going through all this we’ve worked up an appetite! And did you know that Lumpiang Shanghai is also great as a late-night snack? So BRB, raiding the fridge!
