It looks like ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ proves itself to be a very promising anime by bagging the number one spot of the top 10 highest-grossing manga titles of 2019. Find out more here:
‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ has been one of the most raved about manga this 2019. And numbers don’t lie after ‘Demon Slayer’ placed number one in Oricon’s list of their top 10 highest-grossing manga titles. In fact, the dark fantasy by Koyoharu Gotouge has reached over 12,057,628 copies sold.

But first, if you aren’t aware of what we’re talking about, ‘Demon Slayer’ follows the story of a normal teenage boy, Tanjiro Kamado, who becomes a demon slayer after his entire family was slaughtered by a demon, except for his little sister Nezuko, who turned into a demon. Ever since, Tanjiro vowed to find a way to make her sister human again.
The manga has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since February 2016. In 2019, an anime television series adaptation was aired from April 6 to September 28. After the success of the anime, a sequel film was soon announced and is slated to premiere in 2020.
Demon Slayer beats One Piece
Furthermore, 2019 has been a great year for ‘Demon Slayer’ after toppling ‘One Piece’s 12-year reign of being the highest-grossing manga and pushing back the adventure manga to the second spot with 10,134,232 sales. Following ‘Demon Slayer’ and ‘One Piece’ are ‘Kingdom’ (), ‘The Promised Neverland’ (7,454,745), ‘The Quintessential Quintuplets’ (5,895,000), ‘My Hero Academia’ (5,047,574), ‘Attack on Titan’ (4,704,234), ‘Haikyuu!!’ (4,514,838), ‘Kaguya-sama: Love Is War’ (4,096,492), ‘That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’ (3,414,482).
