It’s not too late to add our Top 10 Songs of the Week (November 10-16) to your playlists!
It’s Friday everyone and that means it’s time for a recap of the songs that made it to our Top 10 Songs of the Week (November 10-16)! As usual, every Friday we give you the full run-down of our Top 10 Songs of the Week. And we know you’re just itching to get your hands on some top-shelf OPM music. So here’s the official line up of the songs that made it on our Top 10 Weekly!
1. Langit at Dagat by Martin Riggs
‘Langit at Dagat’ by Martin Riggs is more than it seems. At a first listen it seems like the song is about the struggles of a couple in an LDR (long-distance relationship). And how they survive through it because that’s what people do when they’re in love.
But further probing, we found that the song is about more than the struggles caused by geography. But can also talk about the tragedy of people who live in different worlds altogether. And we take that to be people from different social classes, races, or religions.
2. Kalawakan by Juan Karlos
From the band that gave us ‘Buwan’, Juan Karlos just released their latest single ‘Kalawakan’! But unlike the intensity that ‘Buwan’ brings, ‘Kalawakan’ is a chill and mellow track, in the beginning. Although don’t get us wrong, Juan Karlos still serves some major vocals and an expert blend of instrumentals. And what starts out as a sweet-sounding and chill track, somehow evolves into mania and possessiveness. It’s just like the cryptic themes of insanity we got from the ‘Buwan’ MV. ‘Kalawakan’ by Juan Karlos is definitely an intriguing and beautiful track. Listen to it now!
3. Falling For U by Fern.
Running on artistry and passion, Fern. is out with yet another popping single! Once again, this new release is done in his signature cool pop style, we give you ‘Falling For U’ by Fern! It was just officially released on Spotify today, November 8, 2019.
‘Falling For U’ tackles yet another complicated fraction in the many circumstances of love. And this time it’s about stopping yourself from catching feelings.
Overall, the lyrics of ‘Falling For U’ by Fern. is something that hits a bit too close to home for us, and not exactly in a good way. It’s that part of yourself where you reject offerings of love simply because you feel like you don’t deserve it.

4. Kailangan by Johnoy Danao featuring Angel Aquino
This one is truly a treat for all Filipino Acoustic love song enthusiasts! The “Filipino Troubadour” himself has just released his newest single. We present, ‘Kailangan’ by Johnoy Danao featuring Angel Aquino!
‘Kailangan Kita’ by Johnoy Danao featuring Angel Aquino is a simple but beautifully done love song. Truthfully, another emotional addition to wedding-worthy songs! We find that it’s important to express that his voice truly has become iconic and calmingly beautiful. And add in Angel Aquino’s equally angelic voice as well.
5. T.Y.T. by LUNARLIGHTS
‘T.Y.T.’ is the second single of Lunar Lights under Tower of Doom Records. It follows the major success of their previous single, ‘Pangungusap’ that was released earlier this year. But unlike ‘Pangungusap’, that honors our mother tongue, ‘T.Y.T.’ is sung in English. Although what they do have in common is the theme, love. ‘T.Y.T.’ sings about one person’s attempt to stay with a person that wants to let go. It’s that stage where you know things aren’t working out but you refuse to give up and still give your all. ‘T.Y.T.’ by LUNARLIGHTS is heartbreaking, relatable, and catchy. So it’s definitely a must-listen!
6. LLDR by The Early Ears
The Early Ears recently released their latest album entitled, ‘Lumang Pag-Ibig’. And the songs are just frickin’ beautiful! Every track is really, really, really good, but we have to say that our favorite may be ‘LLDR’. While listening to it and to the other songs from the extended play record, we can’t just help but to remember the movie, ‘Hintayan ng Langit‘.
We also felt really kilig throughout the whole listening period, as if someone was really confessing their love to us through the art of music. Just phenomenal.
7. Masyado Pang Maaga by Ben&Ben
Simply put, this song is heartbreak put finely in poetry. It discusses the pain of trying to fix a relationship that eventually ends up in vain.
Moreover, it shows some common struggles that couples experience – miscommunication and a never-ending conflict on each other’s faults. The song is wonderful, and once again the vocals of the Miguel and Paolo Guico shine beautifully. Through their voices, you would be able to feel the pain and the emotions contained within the song, and it is just phenomenal.
Overall, the whole band just really seems to be in harmony. Again, Masyado Pang Maaga is another OPM masterpiece. Thank you for this, Ben & Ben!
8. Di Sapat Pero Tapat by This Band
‘Di Sapat Pero Tapat’ really hits hard. Because this kind of situation really happens in real life, that sometimes the love that you give is not enough for the person you love. And there’s nothing you can do but accept it.
But remember guys, when you give your all to a person and it still isn’t enough, you’re probably giving it to the wrong one. So if you’re ready to accept that the one you love isn’t happy with you anymore, give ‘Di Sapat Pero Tapat’ by This Band a listen right now!
9. Paruparo by syd hartha
Syd Hartha continues to wow us with another thought-provoking track, entitled ‘Paruparo’. There really is something to say about how clear her diction is, and how she encapsulates what OPM should be, ideally. But about her newest song ‘Paruparo’, not only is it a catchy song but it also tackles the concept of freedom of speech. And it serves as a reminder to all to watch what we say. Just because we can say something, doesn’t always mean we should. Listen to Syd Hartha’s ‘Paruparo’ right now!
10. Warrior by Lions and Acrobats
What we think of it is that Warrior talks about a toxic relationship. Probably, it may even specifically signify a manipulative one. Because based on the lyrics above, the singer is actually telling his loved one to stop appealing to him. Perhaps, it may be because of an endless tiring cycle of faults and arguments that will just repeat again and again. After all, these can just make them sick, tired, and even more disappointed with each other.
Overall, we really like ‘Warrior’ though and how it brings out our anger towards the pain that comes hand-in-hand with love. Moreover, the part where they just scream “I’m scared” really got to us. So hey, to the people who hurt us before, don’t you dare come back just to hurt us once again!
Add these to your Spotify playlists now!
