It isn’t over December yet, but Blizzard has been practicing the gift of giving by giving us a first sneak peek of Overwatch 2!
After months-long of speculations and rumors of Overwatch 2, Blizzard has finally made it official during Blizzcon! And we’ve got all the details about this much-awaited game!
Back in June, news surfaced on the Internet that Overwatch 2 is in the works. It said that the development of a new Starcraft game was halted to increase the number of people working on two new Blizzard games, Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4.
On Friday, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan unveiled ‘Overwatch 2’. In an interview with PC Gamer, “Why a sequel? What does that mean to me as a player of the original game? Well, we thought about it, and for us as gamers, sequels make us nervous. So what we’re hoping to do with Overwatch 2 is really redefine what a sequel means. I think some explanation is in order right now,” Kaplan said on stage.
“For all original players of the current Overwatch game, you will get to play on all of the same maps as Overwatch 2 players, including all the brand new maps that are coming to Overwatch 2, and you’ll get to play with all of the same heroes as Overwatch 2 players.
Furthermore, Jeff went on to clarify this much-anticipated game will be a shared multiplayer environment. Meaning, all of your previous progress in the original title will be continued.
As of now, the game doesn’t have a specific release date. However, we’ve heard Blizzard confirm it’s coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch! So better be prepared!
