Say good bye to Netflix n’ chill for leechers out there ‘cuz Netlix will stop password sharing from accounts!
During its third-quarter earnings interview on Wednesday, Netflix announced that they’ll finally put an end to the glory days of using your friend’s account. The streaming giant threatened become stricter with the number of users watching in the same account.
Although Netflix didn’t divulge more information about this, it seems they would cut down on password sharing, limiting devices signed to one account. Or they could take a look into their IP addresses.
Depending on the subscription plan, Netflix limits the amount of devices streaming simultaneously.
Netflix product chief Greg Peters says: ““We continue to monitor [password sharing],” Peters says. “We’ll continue to look at the situation and we’ll see those consumer-friendly ways to push on the edge of that, but we’ve got no big plans at this point in time in terms of doing something different there.”
But basically, their goal is to limit the sharing of one account to people only from the same household or with the same IP address.
It’s true we can finally say good bye to leechers but there’s a downside to Netflix’s move. Considering they would base on the IP address of the accounts, it might affect families who are far from each other.
So we’re still wondering how this play out. We hope Netlix can come up with a solution very soon without preventing people who actually pays for it from enjoying the streaming site.
