Bear with us, maybe we’re a little over-excited. So we’ll share the hype with you! Because the PS5 is coming in 2020, here’s everything you need to know about the PS5!
Despite so many things that are still unknown about the PS5, the lead system architect of the PS4 and now the PS5 has made one thing clear! The PS5 is no mere upgrade from the PS4. Mark Cerny promises that the PS5, “allows fundamental changes in what a game can be.” And if that doesn’t make your fingers itch for some good old fashioned button-mashing then I have nothing to say to you. Because as little information we have on the PS5 (like an official name), it’s being promised as revolutionary! So for now here’s everything you need to know about the PS5!
You can still play your beloved PS4 games on the PS5!
First and foremost, you don’t have to say goodbye to your old games just yet! Because you will be able to play your PS4 games on the new PS5! We don’t know about you but our wallets just sighed a breath of relief! (Games are expensive, man!) And the reason this is possible is that the PS4 and PS5 are built on a similar internal architecture. And because the new console will also still be using physical discs. So for those of you who were critical about the compatibility issues before for older games, maybe this can make up for that?
As for any upcoming PS5 games, the only one that’s been confirmed right now is the Final Fantasy VII remake.
A green initiative
Probably one of the biggest and most meaningful changes we will see in the PS5 will be its commitment to the UN’s ‘Playing for the Planet’ alliance—an initiative to make the video game industry more environmentally friendly. Which promises that Sony will strive to advocate for sustainable gaming, which we can expect to see in their future hardware that will consume way less power than any console they’ve had. In other words, gaming without hurting the environment. They’ve revealed that for every 1 million players using their energy-efficient feature, they can save enough energy to power one thousand homes in the US.
As of now, there’s no real price range on how much the PS5 will actually cost. All they said was that it will be an “appealing price” to gamers. Whatever that means. Additionally, the PS5 will also be PSVR compatible and can use the move controllers too. Well, that about sums it up! So far that’s everything you need to know about the PS5. Don’t worry, we’ll keep you posted on future updates!
