FEATURES: A new ‘Harry Potter’ film is in the works?!

September 16, 2019 Divine Sanchez

Have you heard the rumors of a new ‘Harry Potter’ movie with the original cast? Well here’s the real deal!

Calling out all Potterheads! This just in, reports say that there will be a new ‘Harry Potter’ movie. But here’s the real deal…as much as we want to have one, IT’S NOT TRUE!

After the success of all her eight ‘Harry Potter’ film adaptations, J.K. Rowling decided to write ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ in 2016. It is a short two-part play featuring the same characters but focusing on the lives of the original ‘Harry Potter’ gang. The play was very well accepted by fans and made think that it would be on its way in becoming a movie. Fans also believe that the original cast members will come back and reprise their roles.

Sadly, J.K. Rowling confirmed it herself on Twitter that there WOULD NO BE A NEW HARRY POTTER FILM back in 2017. *cries*

And according to a report from Hypeable, J.K Rowling is focusing on her spinoff and prequel to the ‘Harry Potter’ series, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 3’ which is set to release on 2021 followed by two other Beast movies in 2023 and 2025. So it’s unlikely that we would be seeing another ‘Harry Potter’ film anytime soon.

The real deal

BUT there’s still good news! Recently, Pottermore, the official digital publisher of anything ‘Harry Potter’, took it to Twitter to repost Rowling’s tweet in 2017 saying: “There is something exciting coming later on from ‘Cursed Child’, but it’s not a movie.”

With this news, Potterheads are going crazy.

Although we still don’t know what it is, we’re pretty much excited! And we’re still crossing our fingers for a movie adaptation of the ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’. Are you?
