Calling out all Archie fans there! ‘Katy Keene’ is ready to join the Riverdale universe!
In what better way to celebrate the upcoming holiday season is through the gift of giving? First were ‘Riverdale‘ and ‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘, and now, there will be Katy Keene! I hope you’re excited as we are because ‘Katy Keene’ is currently in the works to join the ‘Riverdale’ universe!
Based on the original Archie comics, Katy Keene is a character who’ve made several appearances in the comics as a model, actress, and singer. Now, the new TV series chronicles Katy Keene and her friends as they reach for their dreams in New York. Dreams aside, we’ll also be seeing the characters’ romantic lives and DEFINITELY A WHOLE LOT OF DRAMA!
Although there’s still a lot of questions surrounding the series, we’re giving you a list of why you should look out for this one!
#1 The ‘Katy Keene’ cast is BOMB

With ‘Pretty Little Liars’ ending in 2017, we thought we’ve seen the last of Lucy Hale but she’s coming back sassier than ever! She will be portraying Katy Keene and together with her is Josie McCoy–yes–Josie McCoy from the ‘Riverdale’ series!!! And she is played by the rising actress Ashleigh Murray. Also joining the gang are Jonny Beauchamp, Julia Chan, Camille Hyde, and ‘Scream Queens’ actor Lucian Laviscount. Yas!
#2 There’s a lot of singing—and we mean A LOT!
One thing you may have not known about this TV series is that it’s a musical comedy-drama. So expect to see a lot of singing as the girls reach for their dreams!
#3 Fashion is key
You’ll definitely have to watch out for ‘Katy Keene’ because of the characters’ drop-dead gorgeous fashion sense! When you see the girls you’ll instantly be reminded of the style-savvy New Yorkers of ‘Gossip Girl’! Especially Lucy Hale’s! Katy Keene, if you didn’t know, is an aspiring fashion designer, trying to make it big in New York City. So, need I say more about her on-point style?
#4 You can get ‘inspiration’
In an interview, Lucy Hale believes the show gives off the feeling of “optimistically trying to make your dreams come true.”
“The way we shot the pilot, it looks like old-school New York. It’s beautiful. You feel really optimistic and inspired, so tonally it’s a lot different from Riverdale. But I think lovers of shows like those will still gravitate to our show, because it leaves you feeling good and ready to go out and chase whatever it is you’re chasing.”
#5 Possible Riverdale crossover
‘Katy Keene’ is somewhat a spin-off of ‘Riverdale’, only set after five years of the events of ‘Riverdale’. And as we’ve said, part of the show will be Josie. It’s most likely that Josie is in her 20s and finally left Riverdale to pursue her Broadway dreams in New York City along with her gal pals. But according to the Archie films director, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, ‘Katy Keene’ will almost be the polar opposite of Archie’s world. But we’re still crossing our finger to see more Riverdale-universe characters from the series, eh?
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, here it is!
