September 3, 2019 Franchesca Rivera

Hasta La Vista Arnold Schwarzenegger! Looks like judgment day has a new badass femme fatale to stop it, in ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’!

2019 is the year for representation! Because the new trailer for ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ just dropped! And we are here for all the badass females! And it looks like we may be saying goodbye to Arnold Schwarzenegger and saying hello to the new saviour of humanity, Mackenzie Davis!

The new trailer for ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ was released last August 30. And Skynet is back again to kill us all with even scarier terminators! But luckily, old dependable Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and The OG Terminator’s (Arnold Schwarzenegger) replacement, Grace (Mackenzie Davis) is here to save the future of the human race—by protecting a young girl named Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes). Check out the trailer below:

Judging solely from the trailer, it would appear that there’s nothing new with the storyline. So just like past Terminator films, humanity is in danger of extinction because of advanced artificially intelligent robots from the future. And by killing someone from the past will they secure that humanity loses the war for the planet. So what’s something new to look forward to?

Move over, Arnold Schwarzenegger! They’ve got this! We won’t be depending on a man to save the day this time. Because a hybrid cyborg human named Grace is stepping up to bat. Also because in the trailer, Sarah Connor says she’ll have to kill T-800 when it’s all over. But kudos to the film for not only giving representation for women but also for women of color. It’s always a nice change of pace to see women as the heroes instead of the damsel in distress.

Overall, we hope the film exceeds our expectations. After all, there have been a total of six Terminator movies now. We honestly don’t see any HUGE developments, plot-wise. But hey, it’s always nice to be surprised. We’ll never know what they’ll come up with. Better to just wait and see when ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ comes out in theatres on October 23.
