It just had to happen! With the release of Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker “sizzle reel”, Rey seems to have gone to the Dark Side!
In the recent Disney fan Expo D23, new footage of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker’ drops like a bomb. The said footage isn’t an official trailer of the new film of the franchise. But the footage that they call a “sizzle reel” shows a few footages for the upcoming film. And among those footages features Dark Side Rey wielding a red, double-bladed saber.
‘Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker’ is the third installment of the ‘Stars Wars’ sequel trilogy. It will be the final film in the nine-part “Skywalker Saga”. It picks up from where the previous film left off, with the Resistance off to face the First Order one more time. Thus, concluding the ancient conflict between the Jedi and the Sith.
In the sizzle reel, it’s basically a montage of previous ‘Star Wars’ saga footages that build up until the new ones we have yet to see. Even though the new footage is just a few short clips, it features intriguing scenes. And the biggest one involves Rey with a foreboding aura, clad in a clock as she wields a red Sith, double-bladed saber!
Dark Side Rey
Rey is an enigma herself. Despite being the heroine of the past few movies. But if there’s one thing we know, there’s a high possibility that Rey has turned to the Dark Side. Why? Because red lightsabers are for the Sith.
Her turning to the Dark Side means serious business. It could only mean a big twist in the conclusion of their saga. Even actress Daisy Ridley confirmed in some interviews that Rey has, indeed, gone bad. But despite the confirmations, fans theorize that there must be something up her sleeve. Dark Side Rey might be a clone, just like Palpatine’s army. Or she might just be double-crossing the Dark Side for everyone’s sake. Who know’s what’s to happen right? But this character development opens a whole collection of unpredictable possibilities for the final saga film.
So you better mark your calendars because ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ premiers on December 20 worldwide. Better see it for yourself!
