Shocking news! Spider-Man is leaving MCU and fans are not happy about it. Is this really goodbye to our friendly neighborhood spidey?
Sony Pictures announced they will no longer work with Disney’s Marvel Studios in making ‘Spider-Man‘ films after failing to come to an agreement. The argument isn’t still clear but what we know is that Sony released a statement regarding the issue on Tuesday.
“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise,” Sony said. “We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film.”
In case you didn’t know, Sony Pictures holds the screen rights to any ‘Spider-Man’ movie, so while some sources say that negotiations are still ongoing, Sony definitely has the last say when it comes to this issue.
Sony, however, believes this “could change in the future,” but what we all know that if this continues, it would definitely change the plot in MCU given the fact Spider-man is Tony Stark’s successor after his death. We can only wonder what will happen to Tom Holland who’s portraying Spider-man.
Because of this issue, fans are calling for a petition to keep Spidey in MCU with the hashtag #SaveSpiderman trending worldwide on Twitter.
“Not only have I attached myself to Tom Holland as Peter Parker. I have established him as my Spider-man. You can’t take that away Sony. #SaveSpiderMan,” one fan said.

I’m sorry but Tony Stark didn’t die and entrust his legacy to his adopted son for Disney to be a greedy bitch and for Tom’s spidey to end up in another failed Sony movie. Disney you make enough money as is just stand down and agree to 5-10% #SaveSpiderMan pic.twitter.com/e2jTO3c9nC

Meanwhile, even Jeremy Renner, MCU’s Hawkeye, added his own sentiments regarding the issue: “Hey Sony Pictures we want Spider-Man back to Stan Lee and Marvel please, thank you,” he said on Twitter.

Don’t worry though! Rumor says Feige helped in the production in ‘Venom’ without receiving post-credits. So let’s hope for the best of the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’re all crossing the fingers on this one. We can’t have that kind of post-credit scene on ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ as the end, right? Especially not with Tom Holland as our Spidey and after Tony Stark’s sacrifice, eek!
