Team Secret takes another Major championship title as they bulldoze Team Liquid at the MDL Disneyland Paris Major.
Making a dominating run at the MDL Disneyland Paris Major playoffs, Team Secret faces Team Liquid at the grand finals. An awaited showdown between former teammates turned enemies, Clemen “Puppey” Ivanov and Kuro “Kuroky” Salehi Takhasomi turns it into a draft battle.
As far as it goes, Team Secret has been dominant all throughout the Major. They’ve come out as the leading team at the Group stages. Aside from that, they’ve only dropped 3 games in the whole tournament. On the other hand, Team Liquid had to bare their fangs after dropping into the lower bracket. But they’ve definitely shown tenacity as they bounced back with an amazing run up until the Grand Finals.

The MDL Disneyland Paris Grand Finals
During Game 1, Team Liquid’s advantage is evident with their draft. Unlike Team Secret, they’ve chosen their comfort heroes for a counter. While Team Secret had versatile yet odd picks on their side. However, it did not seem to work as Team Secret’s picks were heavily skill-dependent. Despite the pressure they put to Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi’s Morphling, it wasn’t enough to keep him on the leash. As soon as Liquid’s heroes became online right on the early game, they’ve devoured Secret wholly. Miracle- was indeed unstoppable and was able to get a quadruple rampage as they closed the game in less than 20 minutes to secure the game.
But on Game 2, Secret shows what’s their made of. With a draft composed with an artillery of global ultimates at hand, Secret tied the series to 1-1. Yeik “MidOne” Mai Zheng’s Arc Warden gave Liquid a run for their money. At the same time, their draft evolved to a 5-man core as soon as they hit the late game phase. Liquid might have shown some fight but in the end, Secret took them in a slow but sure way.
Same as for Games 3 and Game 4. MidOne took the forefront with his Templar Assassin. His damage output was unmatched and gave him the advantage to shut down Liquid’s carries easily. As soon as they took the match point in Game 3, Secret decided to settle for a fast game in Game 4. Again, with a large damage output coming from MidOne, they finished the game by 20-minutes. Indeed, their sheer dominance in the 3 consecutive games showed how strong they’ve come in the past year. Ths, crowning them as champions of the MDL Disneyland Paris Major. In a similar manner, Puppey, the team captain, was recognized as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, too.
So far, they’re leading the team in the DPC rankings. With 14,250 DPC points, they’ve secured their spot at the upcoming The International 2019 at Shanghai this August.
