FEATURES: The first teaser of Joker released

April 4, 2019 Victoria Luz

The Joker trailer dropped yesterday. And it leaves you asking and wanting for more! Who is the man behind the crimes and nightmares in Gotham City?

Just recently, Warner Bros. released the first Joker trailer, a standalone spinoff of the classic Batman villain. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, under the direction of Todd Phillips, they bring depth on the misunderstood Joker and his origins.

Set in 1981, ‘Joker’ follows the story of Arthur Fleck and his descent to madness. After failing to be a stand-up comedian, hard times drove him to insanity and turns to a life of crime and chaos in Gotham City. Indeed, a misunderstood persona, society tested Arthur and his ideal. Humiliated on the streets, picked on by everybody else, and with nowhere else to go.

But what really got us on the edge of our seats was when he mused, “Is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?”. In a similar manner, he added that his life was no tragedy. But instead, a comedy. And in the whole duration of the trailer, you can see how he spiraled into who he was supposed to be. The Clown Prince of Crime.

In all honesty, Joker had numerous appearances in all over the DC Universe. In films like the ‘Dark Night Batman Saga’, cartoon series, television series, and comics. Even in the television series ‘Gotham’, the character of Joker was highlighted as well. In the ‘Batman: Under the Red Hood’ however, sadly, it wasn’t enough. Yet in the upcoming ‘Joker’ film, it promises the story of when and how it all started.

There has been a long line of Joker portrayals all over the years. From Heath Ledger, Jared Leto, and Cameron Monaghan. But in the trailer, Joaquin Phoenix bares his fangs as the new face of the Clown Prince of Crime. Joker will hit the theaters on October 4, 2019.
