From the dreamy high school student to a devilish deceitful murderer… Zac Efron transforms into Ted Bundy in Netflix’s Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile!

After its initial success at the Sundance Film Festival, Joe Berlinger’s ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’ heads to Netflix this summer. The critically acclaimed biopic follows the story of the infamous serial killer Ted Bundy. One of our favorite stars, Zac Efron plays the role of Ted Bundy. While Lily Collins plays the role of Bundy’s girlfriend, Liz Kloepfer. According to Netflix, the film will premiere on May 3.

The film depicts Ted Bundy’s arrest and how it affected the lives of the people around him. It’s told through the perspective of Liz Kloepfer (Lily Collins) who appears to be in denial of her beau’s crimes. His trial was the first ever televised trial because of the severity of his crimes. Police believed that Bundy had raped, murdered and dismembered more than 30 women before he got caught in 1989.

Chilling and intriguing

In the trailer, a woman describes Bundy as a charming man despite the danger he emits. He even made a joke during the trial which made the whole jury laugh. And Zac Efron personifies him perfectly. A man with that kind of demeanor, would the jury even believe that he did such heinous crimes? Especially way back in the 1980s, where physical appearances factors out in first impressions, no doubt people found him charismatic. And it might have been a double-edged sword among the audience because of his sweet demeanor and dreamy character. You think that they glamourize or sexualize the character. But in reality, they just show how superficial and shallow the public could be to be swayed and swoon by such manBut it played perfectly to the director’s liking.

Indeed, ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’ dares to tread dangerous waters. At the first look into the trailer, it had the audience confused as it seemed to glorify and glamourize Ted Bundy and his acts. But after the second trailer was released, it shed light as to how Berlinger interpreted the whole Ted Bundy story.

Aside from that, Kaya Scoldelario and John Malkovich will be there too, playing crucial roles in the film. ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’ drops in Netflix on May 3.
