From Pretty Little Liars jumping to the Archieverse real quick! We have Lucy Hale as Katy Keene in the newest Riverdale spin-off.
The world of Riverdale or what we call the Archieverse is branching out right before our very eyes. And if you’ve loved the ladies of Riverdale, then you’d definitely love the new It girl, Katy Keene in the upcoming Riverdale spin-off.
According to recent reports, Pretty Little Liars actress, Lucy Hale will be the lead role for Katy Keene, the new Riverdale spin-off. Playing the titular role Katy Keene, Lucy Hale will definitely be seen with an air of sophistication and chic swagger in this project. Katy Keene is not just your regular girl next door, an heiress nor neither a badass chick from the other side of the tracks. In the comics, she’s a singer, model, and actress and is coined as “America’s Queen of Pin-Ups and Fashions”. But in her upcoming series, she’s gonna be introduced as a wannabe fashion designer.

Unlike Riverdale, the Katy Keene series will be a musical dramedy. It will focus on her struggles in balancing her love life and career. Although Katy Keene is within the Riverdale universe, the series won’t be as dark as Riverdale. Instead of being set in the small town of Riverdale, it’ll be in New York City. Aside from that, it will be set several years apart from the current events in Riverdale. So don’t expect any cameo appearances from the OG gang. However, joining Lucy Hale and reprising her role as Josie McCoy of Josie and the Pussycats is Ashley Murray. She’ll also be moving to the Big Apple in hopes of making her dreams come true.
So far, there are no details on when the series will be released. But Katy Keene is definitely in the works. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi will spearhead the project.
