Calling out all RPG fans! A new Philippine mythology-inspired RPG game is in the works. So take a sneak peek on Balete City and the mysteries it holds.
It seems like Pinoy game developers are stepping up their game! Just recently, I stumbled upon a post about Balete City, a Pinoy video game in the works. And I’m quite surprised myself that Balete City is taking Pinoy games into new heights.
Balete City revolves around the adventures and explorations centered in a certain senior high school in Balete City. Similar to GTA installments, Balete City is also a third-person RPG game with an open world. Despite being set in an open world, the game is quest-based. Everything about the game screams Pinoy all over. The gameplay, characters, story setting, and design are heavily based on the rich Philippine mythology. Aside from that, the art is delightfully and hauntingly realistic. From the backgrounds, locations, and characters, you can really see the effort of the artists who designed them. Art can heavily impact one game. And by the looks of their work so far, it’s safe to say that they’re on the right track.
In addition to that, Philippine mythology is getting revived for entertainment purposes. Not that we’re complaining, but it’s very hard to pull off. Since Philippine mythology is vast, the stories tend to get mixed up. However, the fact that it brings forth that much engagement to our own culture is a plus. Based on the page of Balete City, it’s still in its premature stages of development. But despite that, the teasers they release are superb.
So if you’re a fan of third-person RPGs and Philippine mythology itself, then you better watch out for this game. It might take a while but it seems promising. And you know, it’s a game worth waiting. You can check out their official Facebook page here! And while you’re on it, make sure to support them by being a patron on Patreon. Show some love!
