FEATURES: Take a look on the “Aladdin” movie

February 15, 2019 Victoria Luz

Bringing us a good look of Arabian nights, Disney’s Aladdin trailer drops at the 2019 Grammy Awards!

Just a few days ago, during the 2019 Grammy Award, the latest trailer of Aladdin aired. And it gave away the most anticipated character of the movie. Not Princess Jasmine, not Aladdin, but Genie himself, played by Will Smith.

Last October 2018, Disney released the teaser for the live-action remake of the classic movie Aladdin. It has been more than 27 years since the original film debuted and made history for Disney. And during the Grammy Awards last Sunday, it introduced the main characters that we’ve known since childhood.

Aladdin will be the retelling of our 1992 Disney classic favorite. Set in the bright and lively city of Agrabah. Despite being a reboot, it will have new things in store for the audience. Original songs from the 1992 version will be remade, such as ‘A Whole New World’.

Naomi Scott will be the rebellious and dazzling Princess Jasmine. While Mena Massoud plays the cunning thief of Agrabah, Aladdin. Marwan Kenzari plays the devious Grand Vizier Jafar. Navid Negabhan plays the role of Princess Jasmine’s father, the Sultan of Agrabah.

Aside from them, Will Smith will play the Genie, much to everyone’s delight. In the trailer, Smith gives the Genie this certain hop-hip attitude, a breath of fresh air indeed. On the other hand, Billy Magnussen will play Prince Anders, a new character in the movie. While Frank Welker will reprise his role as the voice for Abu, Aladdin monkey, and also the voice of the Cave of Wonders. There is no news yet on who will be voicing Jafar’s parrot.

The film is directed by Guy Ritchie and scored by composer Alan Menken. Aladdin will premiere on May 24, 2019.
