GAMES: WePlay Returns with Valentine Madness event
February 6, 2019 Victoria Luz
Celebrate the month of Love the Dota 2 style with WePlay Valentine Madness!
WePlay is back for another themed Dota 2 event for Europe and CIS region this February. Valentine Madness is their newest Dota 2 online invitational tournament. It will feature 12 teams and a $100,000 prize pool split between the top six finishers of the tournament. And what’s more is that Valentine Madness will use a new game format this time. The tournament will take place on February 9 – 16, 2019, including the group stage, playoffs and grand finals.
Speaking of the new game format, WePlay Valentine Madness will use the “3 Game Guarantee System”. According to the organization, the new format allows an extra chance for teams who lose in the first round of the lower bracket. The whole tournament will follow a double elimination while giving an extra “wildcard” match for those who lost in the first round of the lower bracket. So the first lower bracket game and the extra chance match will be a do-or-die Bo1 series. While the rest of the series will be a Bo3 and the Grand Finals a Bo5.
Since it’s an invitational tournament, 4 of the 12 teams will be directly seeded to the quarterfinals. Among the 4 teams is Gambit Esports, the champions of the previous WePlay Winter Madness, who’ve confirmed their participation. Aside from Gambit, other teams to participate ar Pavaga, The Pango, The Final Tribe, Alliance, and Winstrike. The rest of the teams remains a mystery but will be announced before the tournament.
Aside from that, casters like ODPixel (Owen Davies) and Sheever (Jorien van der Heijden) will be attending the event. You can check out this link for more details of WePlay Valentine Madness here. Catch the Valentine Madness on February 9 – 16, 2019 at WePlay’s official stream.
