GAMES: Lu “Maybe” Yao takes time off from Dota 2 competitive scene

January 30, 2019 Victoria Luz

After recently falling short in the last Majors, PSG.LGD’s Lu “Maybe” Yao takes time off from the Dota 2 competitive scene.

PSG.LGD has been one of the top tier teams in the  Dota 2 competitive scene. They’ve always been present in tournaments; either be  Valve-sanctioned or not. In addition to that, their players are considered top-notch Chinese players as well. So it saddened the fans and Dota 2 enthusiasts that their midlaner Lu “Somnus丶M” Yao, also known as Maybe, will be taking a break.

Just before the DreamLeague Season 11 Major qualifiers, LGD broke the news on their official Weibo account. According to the post, Maybe has requested for a break. He wants to take some time and prepare himself to get back in the best shape. Aside from that, he wants to grind to be Top 1 in the Dota 2 leaderboards.

Considering this, the organization have also announced that Guo ‘XM’ Hongcheng will be substituting for Maybe while on his break. XM is currently playing for CDEC Gaming, an in-house team under LGD Gaming. He will be filling in for Maybe for the team’s participation on the DreamLeague Season 11 Major Qualifiers on February 1, 2019.

Here is the full translation of LGD’s Weibo post:

After the completion of Chongqing Major, midlaner Maybe requested to take a break. For personal and physical reasons, he hopes to achieve the best form through a period of adjustment. And with the new season ahead, Maybe hopes to focus on hitting Rank 1 in the leaderboard. After discussing this within the team, the organization decided to respect Maybe’s personal choice and grant him a leave request. He hopes to adjust his personal status as soon as possible.

In line with this matter, the organization decided to have CDEC Gaming’s Guo “XM” Hongjun fill in for Maybe while on break.. Xm joined CDEC in September 2018. He is a team player. His signature heroes are Pugna, Death Prophet, and Tinker. The opportunity to play for newcomers hopes to inject more fresh blood into CN DOTA scene. And we look forward to his performance.

The DreamLeague Season 11 is the 3rd Major of this DPC Season. The Regional Qualifiers are yet to start, with PSG.LGD participating. China Qualifiers will be on February 1 – 3, 2019. Only two teams will be taking a slot to the DreamLeague Season 11 Stockholm Major in Poland.
