Hear ye, hear ye. HBO has announced Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere date along with a cryptic teaser of the Stark siblings.
Finally, the eight and final season of Game of Thrones will premiere on April 15, 2019. HBO released a teaser for the show, which included the premiere date. They have also revealed that it will only have 6 episodes. But it’s not only the premiere date that sparked interest to the fans. It’s the teaser that really caught their attention!
The teaser video for the promotion of the season finale of Game of Throne was full of mystery. Though the footage is likely just for the promotion and won’t appear in the show, it still points to the major storyline, the coming of Winter.
The Cryptic Teaser
In the video, it focuses on the Stark siblings, Jon Snow, Sansa, and Arya Stark, with the exception of Brandon Stark. You can see Jon Snow walk through the crypts of Winterfell. As he passes by the tomb of Lyanna Stark, a feather falls from her statue’s hand. It was the same feather that Robert Baratheon placed on the statue way back the first episode of Season 1. Then Jon meets Sansa and Arya and the three of them continue to walk through the crypts together.
While they are walking, voices of the 3 deceased Starks echoes in the crypts. First, it was Lyanna who says, “You have to protect him”. Next was Catelyn Stark saying, “All this horror has come to my family, it’s all because I couldn’t love a motherless child”. And last was Ned Stark who says, “You are a Stark. You might not have my name, but you have my blood.” Somehow, these clues only point out that Jon will learn about his true parents and history. In the same way, he’ll learn that Daenerys is actually his aunt and that he has a rightful claim to the Iron Throne as well.
But, wait there’s more! The video doesn’t end at that. As they reached the end of the crypts, they found themselves face to face with their own statues and tombs. Then suddenly, their torches extinguish and an icy mist creeps in its way towards them. The video ends with Jon and Arya drawing their swords to fight. This likely represents their anticipated battle with the Night King and the White Walkers.
The tombs that the siblings saw brought a lot of theories foreshadowing their death. Though if looking closely, it was only Jon’s statue who has an older image, unlike Arya and Sansa’s.
Will this be the end of the Stark Siblings? And where is Bran? But remember, Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere date is April 15, 2019. Share us your thoughts on the comments down below. Or hit us up on our Facebook or Twitter @UDoUPh.
