The long wait is over! UP Fighting Maroons in the UAAP Finals is no longer a dream!

After 32 years of waiting, UP Fighting Maroons in the UAAP Finals is finally going to happen! The University of the Philippines won 89-87 against Adamson University at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last Wednesday.

It was indeed a tough break for the UP Fighting Maroons as they fought for their spot on the Final Four do-or-die game. Defeating the higher-seeded team Adamson, they were able to snatch a twice-to-beat advantage on the semifinals. And we repeat, the Fighting Maroons are back in the UAAP finals after 3 decades of finals drought!

The game was a classic overtime do-or-die situation, especially when Adamson’s Lastimosa tied the score 87-all. But UP’s Desiderio, with all his might, broke the tie to 89-87 with a mere of six seconds to go. Despite Lastimosa’s effort to do a three-pointer, the Fighting Maroons came out as the winners.

UP’s victory caused an uproar to their fellow Maroons and even to students from other schools. Everyone went wild down to the last minute of the game. The whole social media was buzzing with their own hashtag #AtinTWO in support for the UP Fighting Maroons.

Some even made memes about UP’s moving up the finals.

Indeed, it was a promise fulfilled, from one generation to another. UP proves their resilience and toughness with their performance. And what can we say, the long wait for Fighting Maroons is really worth the wait.

They will now fight head to head with the Ateneo Blue Eagles on the finals. People have dubbed it as “The Battle of Katipunan” and the hype is really on! They will face the defending champions in a Best-of-Three matchup starting on December 1 at the Mall of Asia Arena. So grab your tickets now!
