Foreign Rock Bands That Deserve More Recognition

July 27, 2018 UDOU TEAM

I don’t know about you, but I have those moments when I just want to listen to rock bands as they further express my intense emotions, making me want to sing at the top of my lungs.

Among my faves are Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boys, All Time Low, Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, Bring Me The Horizon, We The Kings, and Mayday Parade—but there are also other foreign rock bands I listen to, which do not really get the recognition they deserve, so I’m going to recommend it now!

Check out these foreign rock bands that you should know about:

Tonight Alive

Tonight Alive is one of my fave pop punk-rock bands because lead singer Jenna McDougall’s voice is just really amazing. I’m not sure how she’s able to give calm vibes to rock songs?! The Other Side (2013) is probably the best album they have so far, with You Don’t Owe Me Anything, The Other Side, and Lonely Girl in my faves list. They went here in the Philippines back in 2012—makes you wish you knew the band then, right?

This Wild Life

Sometimes acoustic, sometimes pop rock, This Wild Life is definitely one of those bands that made me fall in love after listening to just one track. Their Clouded (2014) album is my favorite, especially because Better With You is in it, and I swear, it’s one of those bittersweet songs that will embrace you with both nostalgia and pain. Plus, TWL kinda reminds me of the local band December Avenue, I’m not sure why.

Pop rock band Parachute has been here since 2009, and until now I get bitter every time I mention them to my friends, and they don’t know a single song from them. Losing Sleep (2009) still is my favorite album so far, so listen to The Mess I Made and She Is Love. Plus I love them because they’re very nice to their fans, if you don’t believe me, check their Twitter!

We Are The In Crowd

We Are The In Crowd may be on hiatus now, but you can still give their songs a listen. Can’t decide which one I love best–Best Intentions (2011) or Weird Kids (2014). Listen to You’ve Got It Made, Windows In Heaven, This Isn’t Goodbye, It’s BRB, and Come Back Home—seriously can’t wait for this pop punk-rock band to come back home. This band also went to the Philippines back in 2012.

The Maine

The Maine gets better and better each album, but Can’t Stop Won’t Stop (2008) is still my favorite because Into Your Arms is in it. They visited the country twice now—back in 2015 with All Time Low, as well as last year. Plus, have I mentioned that vocalist John O’Callaghan’s twitter is just so relatable?

Who wouldn’t love pop rock band Echosmith? This trio of siblings (originally quartet, but the eldest left the band way back) are very adorable! They’re a bit mainstream now, but if you haven’t heard about them, you should totally check their Talking Dreams (2013) album. Go ahead and play Surround You first please. This band also had their concert in the PH in 2015, in case you didn’t know.

There are still lots of foreign rock bands waiting to be discovered—keep listening to both local and international artists, or you might be missing out on a lot!
